ECM was certified for the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems and the ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management Systems earlier this year for its continuous endeavours to drive energy management and reduce overall power consumption in your communities. Taking this further, a solar powered lighting system has now been installed at the sikkas connecting Al Jaz, Al Sidir, Al Nakheel and Al Ghaf. The lights are powered by electricity generated by the photovoltaic solar panels; thereby reducing energy bills for the communities. Solar energy is becoming increasingly popular as more people take notice of the adverse effects of the burning of fossil fuels on the environment. As solar energy is produced from the sun’s radiation, it is a process void of any smoke, gas or other chemical by-product. The systems don’t require expensive and ongoing raw materials like oil or coal and need significantly lower operational labour efforts than conventional power production methods. The efficiencies of this pilot project at The Greens & Views are being evaluated and upon successful realisation of desired energy savings, more lights in the Master Community will be connected to solar panels.
